Our verdict
Who it's for
Create viral short-form videos in seconds using AI-powered editing tools.
Who should look elsewhere
Submagic is a captioning and polish layer rather than a full editor, so you cannot assemble a video from scratch and still need a separate editing tool for anything beyond adding captions, effects, and B-roll to an existing clip.
Pros
- +Significantly speeds up video editing workflow (saves 10+ hours weekly)
- +Boosts video engagement by over 50%
- +Provides 99% caption accuracy, eliminating manual work
- +Makes videos accessible to a wider audience with multi-language captions
- +Easy to use with a 3-click process for creating shorts
Cons
- −Submagic is a captioning and polish layer rather than a full editor, so you cannot assemble a video from scratch and still need a separate editing tool for anything beyond adding captions, effects, and B-roll to an existing clip.
- −Video length is capped by plan tier, with the entry plan limiting clips to roughly 2 minutes and the mid plan to 5 minutes, so processing longer videos forces an upgrade to the top Business tier.
- −The auto B-roll feature sometimes inserts off-topic or irrelevant footage that you have to manually review and remove before publishing.
- −Monthly AI Credits and API minutes are metered separately from your video count and are stingy on lower plans (as few as 3 credits), pushing heavier users up into steeper pricing tiers.
