About ToolScout

ToolScout helps teams choose software based on facts, not marketing. We track 7599 tools across 80 categories. Each one is a structured record of pricing, features, integrations and company details, and every claim is tied to the source it came from.

Why we built it

Picking software usually means piecing things together from vendor websites, pricing pages that hide the real cost, and review sites where placement can be bought. You end up with a dozen open tabs, conflicting information, and no clear way to tell what’s actually true.

ToolScout puts the facts that matter for a buying decision into one consistent format, so tools can be compared directly. Everything shows where it came from, and anything we don’t know is marked as unknown.

How it works

  1. Step 1
    Discover

Browse by category or use case, or describe what you need and let the finder narrow the field.

  2. Step 2
    Shortlist

Save candidates as you go. Your shortlist follows you across the site and seeds every comparison.

  3. Step 3
    Compare

Put tools side by side on pricing, features, integrations, deployment and security — field by field.

  4. Step 4
    Decide

Check each fact against its source, see what's still unknown, and choose with the gaps in plain view.

What we stand by

Every fact has a source
Pricing, features, integrations and company details are stored as structured fields, and every non-obvious fact links to the page it came from along with the date it was checked.
Unknown means unknown
If we can’t verify something, we leave it blank and say so. We never fill gaps with guesses, and a missing value is never shown as a “No”.
Scores are computed, not chosen
Data completeness and verification ratio are calculated from the record itself. Superlatives like “best documented” are used only when the data backs them up.
Ranking isn’t for sale
Vendors can’t pay to rank higher or change their score. Anything sponsored will be clearly labelled and kept separate from rankings.

Who runs ToolScout

ToolScout is operated by Inventive. Inventive’s own product appears in the directory, labelled as an operator-owned listing and scored by the same rules as every other tool, with no ranking advantage. You can read exactly how the directory is funded on how we make money.

For software vendors

Don’t see your product? Submit it. Already listed? Claim your listing to suggest corrections and keep it up to date. Every change you send is checked against your public pages before it goes live. Claiming a listing never affects its score or position.

Spotted something wrong?

Software changes fast, and we’d rather hear about a mistake than leave it up. Tell us what’s out of date and we’ll check the source, fix the record and update its “last verified” date.
